Hydrant Flushing 101

Flushing fire hydrants is an essential part of a routine maintenance program necessary to ensure the integrity of the water system and provide high-quality water for our customers.  While it might seem like a waste of water, hydrants are flushed for several important reasons, one of which is a requirement by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.  See the infographic below for more information.
