[ARCHIVED] September Board of Directors Meeting Press Release

Board Meeting PR_Img

The District Board of Directors met on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 4:30 PM.

The Board of Directors voted to award Day Services, LLC, the Rustic Meadows 16-inch waterline extension construction project contract. This project connects approximately 300 LF of 16-inch waterline to an existing 12-inch waterline along Rustic Edge St. and 16-inch to the south. The project was advertised for bids on July 27, 2024, and August 3, 2024, in the Cleburne Times Review. The bid opening occurred at the District office on August 13, 2024, with seven (7) bidders. The bids ranged from a low bid of $82,716 to a high bid of $126,950. The lowest and best bidder is Day Services, LLC. The contract time for this project is forty-five (45) working days, or approximately two months.

The Board of Directors voted to approve the 2025 benefit renewal with TX Health Benefits for employees' medical, dental, vision, and life plans. While the District's benefits plans are not changing, there is a 5% increase due to increased costs. Human Resources compared costs with another insurance brokerage and found that TXHB is still the most cost-effective while maintaining a comprehensive plan. HR has requested a quote for short-term disability (STD), long-term disability (LTD), and retiree benefits.

In 2023, the District engaged Hazen and Sawyer (Hazen) to evaluate the structural integrity of its three-million-gallon Transmission Storage Tank (TST) due to concerns about differential settlement. Hazen's analysis, completed in August 2024, concluded that the TST is no longer structurally sound or suitable for continued use. Hazen recommended immediate repairs and foundation stabilization to address this, followed by constructing a new TST.  After discussing cost and feasibility, the Board voted to table the decision until the October meeting to gather more information for further consideration.
